Welcome to Natural Notes, an online and Brighton-based music coaching company founded by Charlie O'Connor- a multi-passionate, multi-instrumental singer-songwriter.
Over here, we aim to help singers, songwriters and musicians overcome blocks, grow their musical toolbox and develop their craft in a way that feels good, feels natural, and feels true to who they are.
With 19+ years of contemporary singing and songwriting experience, and at least 16 years in the music industry, we know that making music can sometimes become overwhelming, especially if you are prone to a bit of perfectionism like me. Often what's needed is some encouragement that actually music can be fun, that singing can be completely empowering and joyful and you can still make great progress when you approach it this way!
Whether you're looking to improve your vocal technique, develop your songwriting skills further, write your first song, start your journey with piano or guitar and have someone supportively hold you accountable to your dreams and ambitions, we can offer you a contemporary, student-centred coaching style, where you, your tastes and how you learn comes first.
I'm a singer/songwriter and poet, currently writing music in the indie/rock/alt-pop world, but I have dabbled in the Jazz world, in Neo-Soul and Electronica, in Pop, Punk-Rock, Reggae and Funk, lots of Soul, Motown, R'n'B and some musical theatre. My theatre-kid background has led me to love artists full of charisma, who play with genre, wordcraft, timing and structure, like Regina Spektor or Amanda Palmer. I love music that moves me, or makes me laugh or makes me feel. I'm a sensitive, creative soul who believes we all have creative-magic within us, we all deserve to create things and sing or play an instrument and we can all learn to sing or play music with the right tools and with practise!
