whether that’s helping you take the first steps in singing in front of someone else, gaining confidence as you improve your skills in music or understanding how music works in a deeper level or any other direction you want your coaching to go in,
we’ll be happy to help.
At Natural Notes, we offer singing lessons, songwriting/composition lessons, piano lessons and guitar lessons for adults, teenagers and children both online and in Brighton, UK. Whether you have never had any vocal training before or want to build on music skills and talents you already have, we can help you develop your own unique voice naturally, joyfully and with confidence.
We can help you improvise like never before, develop your composition and songwriting craft or even write your first song! Wherever you're at with music right now, we can support your growth as a musician and help you understand the piano or guitar on a deeper level, learning transferable skills you can apply to other instruments.
So pick an instrument or chosen focus; singing, songwriting/composition, piano, guitar or ‘how music works' and pick a coach; me - Charlie O'Connor (singing, songwriting or ‘sing with piano') or Guy Jones (piano, guitar, songwriting/composition or ‘how music works').
The voice is such an expressive part of us, letting ourselves sing can be an incredibly joyful and liberating experience. When we build vocal skills, we allow the voice to soar and reach areas we might never have thought possible.
Some concepts we can work together on include:
Whether the language of music is brand new to you or you'd like some new tools and feedback to continue your songwriting and creative development, we'd be happy to support you.
Some concepts we can work together on include:
We can approach these sessions as purely piano or keyboard-based or we can combine it with the voice to develop both skills alongside each other. We can also do this as part of a wider part of your songwriting development, if you want a bit of everything.
Some concepts we can work together on include:
Whether you want to be able to play a song around a campfire, at home in your room, develop guitar skills you already have or be supported in your artistic development, we'd be happy to help.
Some concepts we can work together on include:
it's called 'playing' music for a reason, so we get creative, improvising and experimenting with joy, expression and empowerment at the forefront of everything.
log your practise time in our practise log and develop your skill in a way that works for you, with supportive accountability from your coaching sessions.
if you want to perform, there are two Natural Notes gigs per year, giving you a chance to step onto the stage in a safe, welcoming and encouraging environment.
At some point in the early 2000s, at a secondary school in Cornwall, I decided I'd give the school choir a shot. It was a ‘proper' choir and you had to audition. I took a deep breath and went for it.
I was shaking with nerves but forced myself into the small practise room where the music teacher was sat at a piano, unsmiling with a strict demeanour about him.
Without much of a hello, he played a note on the piano and demanded I sing it.
I froze with fear and felt too scared to make a noise.
